Bird 2 Run

1 foot infront of the other 5km at a time

Run: Fortnighty Update

Man it has been hot around here! Which has really shrunk my available time to actually get out there and run. Trying to go more in the mornings, and if I really can’t run in the morning going very late afternoon into the evening.

Duration: 24:09 mins

Distance: 2.61km

Avg. Speed: 9:15 mins/km

Max HR: 199 bpm

Run score: 102

I think I read my max hr wrong, shouldn’t I have been having so kind of turn to have a heart rate that high? Oh well. That is what you get for reading a small watch screen, on a moving wrist all while running. My bad, Haha!

Duration: 21:46 mins

Distance: 2.60 km

Avg Speed: 8:21 mins/km

Max HR: 186

Run score: 226

I don’t know if it is the heat but things have been alittle bit of a slog, with quite a few stitches that required stopping running and stretching them out. My mind and body have been pretty willing, it is just the heat that really makes me not want to go out there. Running in Autumn/winter is so much easier.

Pray that your running journey is going well

Nitty Gritty

I was going to write this post pretty much straight after my last post, since that was a kinds welcome post & why I’m doing what I’m doing post. But as it does life got in the way & then I worked yesterday. So I’m here now, yay!

Thought that I would share alittle about the basic process that I have decided to take to get myself 5km running ready. I have decided to work on my fitness levels first, without running. There are two reasons for that;

1. I don’t love running, when I have tried running in the past I have gotten 100m & basically co lapsed on the ground, dry reaching & all that. Wasn’t fun.

2. I don’t have the greatest knees in the world, ligament damage in high school (that I didn’t know I did) caused alot of pain & buckling of my knees when I was at University (8 years ago). WH (Wonderful husband) developed runners knee, which he has to cross train on a bike & stretch really well to be able to run & continue life outside running without pain. I want to avoid that.

So I am currently doing 2 things, cardio & cycling. Cardio do with the help of the Wii & I do that pretty much every morning at the moment for 10 minutes (though I have increased that to 25mins this morning). Cycling I do every 2nd day & usually when WH wants to go for a run & it is usually for about 5km.

By the way I am using Just Dance 4 for the Wii as my cardio, it has a fitness section. It tracks my energy levels as I go and adjusts the intensity levels of my work out. Some-days I get flogged & others I get an easier run of it.

Ok so that is my plan so far. I’m not sure when I’ll actually start running. I’ve only been doing this routine for the last week so we will see how I’m going in another week. Then I’ll be able to share my plan for actually starting running.

My next post will be sharing where I’m at now, how I feel generally & how my heart rate is going. Believe me it’s alittle scary right now!

🙂
